More detail:
2024-07-23: Miss July,or Juju for short, is a medium sized chocolate female lab that found herself in a shelter at the end of June. Luckily she wasn't there long as she was scooped up and out of there 7/3 making room for the many unfortunate dogs that end up in shelters over the July 4th holiday. She was quite happy to start the beginning of her new life! It was apparent she had puppies in her past and she was spayed on 7/16--that life is behind her now! The shelter aged her at 4yrs old and she weighs a perfect 73lbs. She has a healthy light chocolate coat. She had a minor viral illness/cough when first leaving the shelter followed by her spay so this sweet girl is feeling great and coming into her own.

She is currently living with a young at heart 9 yr old female lab who has been a great mentor. She knows sit, takes treats gently, is crate trained, rides quietly in the back of the SUV which she enters and exits via a ramp. She had no idea about balls, toys or a dental chews. She watches her mentor and has figured it out. She has great house manners and has had no 'accidents.' She quickly learned to follow our other lab and learned our routine. We are working on her leash skills as it seems as though she has not had many leashed walks. She is doing great and learning quickly. We have taken her on lots of walks and she seems to be medium energy.

She is looking for a home that will continue working on her leash skills and this home can have another dog or she will be fine as an only dog. Miss July likes attention and will put her head into your lap for petting and when you stop she will give you her paw to continue. She cherishes lots of love and will step over our lab to get closer. She enjoys her time in our yard and can be found lounging on a dog bed on the patio or is always willing to help with yard work. Chasing lizards or the wild bunnies in the yard is a new hobby though she has not caught any. While very mellow in our adult home she gets excited when out and about experiencing all new things in her great new world in dog friendly Santa Barbara. If you think you are the right person or family for Miss July/Juju please let your family rep know.
