OWNER-LISTED DOGS
SHELTER DOGS
COURTESY DOG LISTINGS

This page lists dogs made available for adoption by their owners. Due to a shortage of volunteers, we no longer evaluate every Owner-listed dog for temperament, health, etc. Information on this website regarding listed (as opposed to fostered) dogs is generally provided by
the dogs’ owners and may not have been verified by SCLRR. An adoption of a listed dog is a private arrangement between the adopter and the owner. SCLRR accepts no liability for this service. For more information on adopting an Owner-listed dog, please read HOW IT WORKS.

Before completing an application to adopt, please check to see that you live in an area that we cover. Currently we serve most of Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties. We also serve the coastal communities of Santa Barbara County from Goleta south to the border with Ventura County and, in the southwestern corner of San Bernardino County we serve the cities of Upland, Chino, Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Victorville and Hesperia—dependent on volunteer availability. Sorry, but SCLRR is unable to accept applications from residents of Riverside, San Diego, Kern, or San Luis Obispo Counties, nor from cities in San Bernardino County that are not listed above. For more information, including a list of Lab Rescue groups that operate in areas in which we do not, please see our Areas We Serve page.

Once you have submitted an APPLICATION TO ADOPT, an SCLRR representative will contact you. Complete contact information for these dogs is only available to those who have filled out our adoption form and who have been approved through interviews and homechecks by SCLRR volunteers.

If you are interested in using our Owner-Listing service to find YOUR dog a new home, please complete and submit our Dog Listing Form. Please note that the dog MUST be spayed or neutered AND current on vaccinations in order for you to use our Owner-Listing service.

If you HAVE a Labrador Retriever that you want to GIVE UP to SCLRR, please visit giving up your Lab for information on the process.

If you do re-home or adopt a dog privately through our Owner-listing service, we strongly encourage you to print out and use the following generic Release of Ownership and Terms of Adoption forms to effect legal transfer of ownership.

If you are interested in making one of these Labs part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the owner of a listed dog.
